About Rachel

Hi, I'm Rachel!  I am a Cape May County, NJ native, a graduate of Rowan University (BA, 2011) and Rutgers University (MSW, 2014).  I have provided direct therapy services for 9 years and have held an independent clinical license for 6 years.  I completed training to serve as a clinical supervisor in 2021.  I have a breadth of experience that includes treating adolescents with severe and persistent mental illness and their families; providing outpatient services to adults and teens; and providing short-term therapy in adult-medical and high school settings.

During the recent COVID-19 pandemic, I found a passion for telehealth work - it removes many of the barriers that people face in seeking mental health therapy including difficulties with transportation, time, and even the stigma of walking into "the therapist's office".  It also allows me a glimpse into my clients' natural environments, and gives a different perspective on environmental aspects that may contribute to stress.  It was during that time that I made the choice to open my own practice with the goal of serving people across the state of New Jersey to create change and a peaceful life.

I have attended numerous training and continued education courses to hone my skills in the treatment of trauma (including developmental trauma), depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders.  I have a special interest in the use of yoga and mindfulness in the treatment of mental health distress.  I have a particular passion for helping those going through times of change and transition throughout the lifespan: entering adulthood, graduating college, entering parenthood, retiring and more.

I specialize in developmental traumas and complex PTSD resulting from chaotic, tumultuous, and/or inconsistent childhoods; including those experiencing chronic and persistent mental illness.  However, I also pride myself on my ability to work with people from many diverse walks of life, with varying presenting problems, strengths, and levels of resiliency.  You don't need to be "crazy" to need therapy (an assumption I've heard all too often) - we all need compassion, support, and a listening ear sometimes.  All that is required for therapy is a willingness to be honest, to be self-observing, and to engage in the active process of change.  I take a holistic view of health, wellness, and life.  Stress is a silent killer, whether still clinging to us from our past or immediate in our present. We all must find ways to confront and cope with our stressors. With humor and human connection, I aim to be part of your path. I invite you to reach out today, to begin your journey to your best life, to find and develop a pond of peace in your own life.

In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am also a 200-hour certified yoga instructor.  I enjoy practicing yoga, reading (a bit of everything, but with a special love for fantasy literature), going to the beach, traveling, and spending time with my two dogs and husband.  My dream would be to one day have a hobby farm... I just have to convince my husband first!
